Not So Good:
- quiet - comes off as indifferent - shy, to an extent - overprotective, in certain situations - a wild temper, when things she cares about are threatened - a tendency to mope when things don't go her way - she doesn't tell people when she's in pain, or somethings not right, and that causes difficult situations for herself, and others - a not very adventurous spirit (would rather not try new things) - occasionally, pretty rude - a martyr complex (the kind where everyone's just like 'give it a rest, already') - fear of commitment - not good at trusting/working with others - brutally sarcastic
Other Little Quirks:
- thick (and I mean, THICK) Texan accent - will eat anything, not even asking what it is - is absolutely horrified at the idea of going in an airplane - loves wearing black clothes, because they make her feel slender - is farsighted, uses reading glasses - loves to read - especially 50 cent harlequin romances - enjoys all types of red wines - and absinthe (she orders out of Spain) - adores Lords of Acid (listens to it on her iPod while photographing) - loves spending time with her mother (movie nights are common for them, and she drives down to visit whenever she doesn't have work)
History/Past/Story Time!!!
Born to single mother, Ivanna, in the small town of Italy, in the winter of 1982. Alyona has a rocky family tree, but is still roughly a quater Russian, both her grandfather and father of different blood then all others in her ancestry. Her mother has the werecat gene as well. As far as she can trace back (though, it is rather difficult), werecat has been in her family's bloodline.
As she grew, she was taught never to depend on others, and she still carries that ideal with her, to this day. Not all that mad that her father left, since she wouldn't want a fool like that to help raise her. Nonetheless, she's had her fair share of father figures, both in the community, and in her family. Especially her uncles.
Ivanna suppressed her genes as much as possible, ignoring what she really was, choosing to just not pursue it. In any case, most of Alyona's education (as far as how to use her abilities, as well as what she really was) came from her Uncle Dimitri. In fact, her mother specifically asked her brother to educate her daughter, not even wanting to breach the topic.
As Alyona went through school, she constantly fell like an outcast. Whether it was from her crippling shyness (she grew out of it as she got older), or just how different she was, she isolated herself. Over the years, she did develop relationships, and came to have many close friends, though she was never particularly popular. Even so, the looming fact that she just couldn't tell them what she was kept her from getting to extremely close to any one person.
But, she was as normal as could be. She did everything she was supposed to, hung out, went to homecoming and prom, everything general. When she went to college, she didn't keep in contact with old school mates, and didn't make many new friends. In the end, the structured environment was a little to much, and she finally dropped out, settling for working as a waitress.
Two years living in an apartment by herself, and Dimitri suddenly passed away, from an unexplained cause. This left Alyona rather distraught, but she put it away, delving into her work, and taking extra hours. At night, she became a bar tender, and the long hours helped comfort her.
A few years later, she came to enjoy photography. At first, just messing with her friends' small cameras, she ended up buying one for herself. While it was just a digital camera, people still complimented her. Taking advice from family and few friends, she bought a real camera, and began freelance photographing for a small-scale magazine.
Eventually, she climbed the ladder, and now many magazines ask for her artwork. She still bartends, when in need, but no longer waits, choosing instead to nap and rest as much during the day (the long hours she worked eventually set a rough sleeping schedual, one that she had difficulty breaking).
She now lives in an apartment flat, in Houston, Texas.
Sample Time!!!
I love beaches. I just...I just can't explain how the calm touches me. Reaches into my very heart. Especially at night, on one of these clear nights, where the moon is casting a wedge shaped reflection on the water, and it lights up the grungy lake water and makes it look mystical.
Its gorgeous. Almost kind of wish I had my camera with me, although the lighting (what light?) is undesirable. Mother doesn't really understand why I come out here, when I could be in her trailer watching chic flicks and eating cheese puffs. I mean, I love spending time with her, but I can't, really. I'm enchanted.
I suddenly feel the urge to just jump in. The air is moist, a heavy warm blanket around me. And, it doesn't really matter if I get my clothes wet. So, I pull my battered tennis shoes off, and my pretty wood-bead necklace. And I run in.
The waves lap at my clothed legs, and sand squishes in between my toes. I let the very tips of my fingers dance against the very surface of the water.
And I'm home.
OOC OOC Name: modern, motz, or modernmotz. Its all good. Contacts: modern.motz@yahoo.com kathryne_lebell@yahoo.com and PM of course *wink* Um, sorry, don't do IM or anything like that. One More Thing: I know you probably abhor getting little excuses like this, but I haven't roleplayed in what feels like years. I am a little rusty, even if I've been writing fanfiction, and essays and the like. Still, please don't get too furious if I'm absolutely terrible at this.
